Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation may create added fullness and beauty to
a feature that is a focus of facial expression. Augmentation
of a thin upper lip may create more balance with a fuller
lower lip. Upper and lower lip augmentation can produce a
more sensual and youthful appearance. In older individuals,
lip augmentation may reverse the thinning of the lips that
inevitably occurs with age. Tissue fillers can also be used
to conceal wrinkles that develop around the mouth. Dr.
Forley will discuss with you your desires and customize the
amount of filler material injected to achieve a natural,
aesthetically balanced result.
Due to the softness and longevity, Dr. Forley uses
hyaluronic acid fillers most commonly for augmentation of
the lip, such as Juvederm™ or Restylane®. The procedure is
usually performed using a dental anesthetic block, which
will make the lip completely numb thereby eliminating any
discomfort from the injections. You can anticipate some
swelling for 1 or 2 days and possibly some short term
bruising. Icing the lips for the first day will reduce the
likelihood of any bruising and diminish the degree of
swelling that may develop.
