MACS-LIFT
One of Dr. Forley's most important goals as a plastic surgeon is to achieve a natural, unoperated appearance with minimal scars. To achieve this outcome in the aging face, a "short scar" facelift procedure, the MACS-Lift, was introduced. A series of sutures, woven through the deep fibrous layer of the face known as the SMAS, are tightened to enable volume restoration of the cheeks and improvement of the nasolabial folds, jowls, jawline, and neck. Excess skin that needs to be removed is done through small, well-planned incisions that are designed to optimally conceal scars.
NON-SURGICAL PROCEDURES
Dr. Forley brings a plastic surgeon's aesthetic judgment and understanding of anatomy and aging to these innovative treatments that achieve a more youthful appearance by lifting the skin and stimulating the production of your own collagen.
Ulthera®, is the first and only energy-based device for aesthetics cleared by the FDA with a non-invasive “lift” indication. It uses ultrasound energy to reach the damaged skin layers that cause skin to ‘sag’ (including the deep support layer addressed in surgery) without disrupting the surface of the skin. After an Ultherapy® treatment, improvements are visible immediately with some contraction and firming. There is no aftercare necessary and you may resume normal activities after your treatment. Similar to muscle building with exercise, the deposition of new collagen to lift and improve the skin occurs gradually over a period of two to three months following your treatment. Although the technology does not duplicate the results of surgery, it provides an effective, “no downtime” method to counter poor skin tone and sagging.
The Fraxel®re:store Dual laser uses two wavelengths of laser energy to improve wrinkles, lighten dark pigmentation, and diminish acne and surgical scars with minimal downtime. The newly added Thulium wavelength is more superficial and directly targets pigmentation. Collagen within the deep layer of the skin is thickened to improve skin tone and firmness and to diminish pore size with the deeper penetrating Erbium wavelength. The face, neck, chest, and hands can be safely treated with this light energy-based technology in a series of four monthly treatments with short-term redness and swelling over 2-4 days.
The FDA opened a new chapter in injectable anti-aging treatments with its July 2009 approval of the use of Sculptra®Aesthetic "for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial fold contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles." Sculptra®Aesthetic is composed of an injectable biocompatible material, poly-L-lactic acid, that stimulates the production of the skin's own collagen resulting in a gradual and very natural appearing restoration of facial volume and youthful facial contours. Dr. Forley has developed an expertise, based on seven years of experience in the use of Sculptra®, the predecessor to Sculptra®Aesthetic, for facial volume restoration. Generally, a series of 2-3 treatments at 6-week intervals are necessary to achieve the desired effect. The results from the treatment can last up to 3 years at which time maintenance treatments will be necessary.
