Aesthetic Facial Surgery
Dr. Forley will discuss your individual concerns during your comprehensive consultation and demonstrate the degree of correction you can expect in each area. In many cases, some or all of the facial procedures you desire can be performed in one stage. Dr. Forley always attempts to use the smallest and most well concealed incisions possible. He will explain how natural–looking results can be achieved with advanced surgical techniques through limited incisions.
Facelift
Facial aging is the result of changes in the skin, fat, and muscle of the face. The shift of facial volume from the cheeks to the lower third of the face is responsible for the deepening of the nasolabial folds and the loss of jawline and neck definition over time. A facelift repositions the tissues of the face and neck to restore the contours and appearance of a more youthful or fresher face. Many areas of the face are improved: sagging, loose tissues of the midface, deep folds of loose skin at the sides of the nose and mouth, jowls or loss of definition of the jawline, and excess fat or loose skin causing loss of definition in the neck area. Visible banding of the platysma neck muscle can be corrected to provide additional improvement of the neck contour. Incisions are designed to optimally conceal your scars with tightening of the deep layer, known as the SMAS, producing the most natural, long-lasting results.
MACS-LIFT
Dr. Forley also utilizes a new short scar technique, known
as a MACS-Lift, in select patients. The MACS-Lift offers the
advantage of a shorter incision and an innovative approach
for tightening the deep SMAS layer to restore volume to the
face. The MACS-Lift can be used to achieve a significant
improvement in younger patients and patients with minimal
skin sagging. It is also ideal for patients who may require
secondary facelift procedures as the aging process
progresses.
Dr. Forley’s most important goal is to achieve a natural,
unoperated appearance and to make you look as good as
possible for your age. A facelift is often combined with
additional procedures to simultaneously correct other areas
of the face, such as the forehead or eyelids, to give your
entire face a more harmonious and youthful appearance.
All of your incisions will be carefully closed with techniques designed to produce very fine line scars. You will be able to wash your hair within 1-2 days. Some of the sutures are removed at about 5 days and the remainder at 8-10 days. You may feel some tightness in the neck area following surgery but generally no pain. Bruising and swelling improve greatly within the first 10-14 days at which time most patients feel comfortable returning to work.
A facelift can help reset the clock but doesn’t stop it. How long your facelift will last will depend on many factors, including the characteristics of your skin, muscle and fatty tissue and your post-operative maintenance program. Dr. Forley will recommend a skincare program to prolong the benefits of your surgical procedure.

Neck Lift
In some patients, the onset of aging is seen primarily in sagging of the neck. It can precede some of the other aging changes that occur in the cheeks and in the folds around the mouth. Since the face will remain unchanged after a neck lift, it is important to consider if a neck lift alone is indicated. Dr. Forley performs a careful assessment during your consultation to determine if a balanced result is possible when surgery is limited only to the neck.
The contour and appearance of a youthful neck is restored with a neck lift by the removal of excess fat under the chin in addition to tightening of the muscle and loose skin that is present. Incisions placed behind the ear are used to carefully mobilize the skin and deeper layers of the neck. Prominent fat deposits are sculpted using very fine liposuction cannulas to precisely remove the desired amount of unwanted, bulging fat. The appearance of cords below the chin is due thickening of the muscle that lines the neck, the platysma, and can become more evident with age. These cords are treated by use of a row of stitches under the skin to create a supportive muscle sling that produces optimal definition of the neck. The excess skin that results from gravity, elasticity damage as a result of cumulative sun exposure, and weight fluctuation is removed via the incisions behind the ears which are then carefully closed to enable minimally apparent scars to form with healing.
