The Silhouette InstaLift is a new, minimally invasive procedure for reversing some of the early signs of facial aging that improves upon the original Silhouette Lift introduced by Dr. Forley more than 6 years ago. The Silhouette InstaLift provides a very effective bridge between injectable fillers and surgery. It is performed under local anesthesia and enables a lifting of the sagging facial tissues away from the mouth and jawline and restores a youthful fullness to the cheek. The Silhouette InstaLift uses a fully absorbable suture with bidirectional cones approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Each suture is introduced through a small needle puncture in the mid-cheek. Three to four sutures are used on each side of the face and are passed through the superficial tissue just under the skin. The needle used to direct the inferior position of each suture then exits in the lower face in a pre-determined location adjacent to the nasolabial fold and above the jawline. Another needle that is attached to the suture is used to direct the superior cones to an exit point usually near the hairline or the ear. Once the sutures are deployed, the sagging tissues of the face are mobilized to engage the cones until the desired lift is achieved. The multiple fixation points provided by the cones promote collagen in-growth that locks the lift into place once the sutures and cones have absorbed after 3 months. In addition, the poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) composition of the suture stimulates collagen production in the skin to enhance cheek contour. The duration of the lift is in the range of 12-18 months. The procedure can be used in conjunction with other minimally invasive techniques such as injectable fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic, Fraxel® laser, and the new Nordlys SWT photorejuvenation light device to achieve additional anti-aging benefits.
