| There is no single best type of implant and approach for
every augmentation. Breasts are extremely different and
different approaches give the best results in certain breasts.
During your consultation, Dr. Forley will discuss your
preferences regarding breast size, incision location, and how
you would like your breasts to look. After examining
you, he will recommend a range of options for implant
type, size and incision location that will be best for your
breast and will balance the rest of your figure. He will
also discuss the placement of the implant behind the breast or
behind the pectoral muscle on the chest wall to achieve the
most natural appearing breast possible.
Excessively large breasts can produce many functional
problems such as neck and back discomfort, shoulder grooving,
rash and skin problems, and problems wearing clothing. Breast
reduction successfully reduces the excess size and weight of
the breast, tailors the skin to reposition the breast mound
upward, and repositions the nipple areola complex onto the
newly shaped and positioned breast mound.
In
some cases, the problem is primarily that breasts
may be sagging. In these situations, an uplift or
mastopexy of the breast is recommended. Occasionally this
needs to be combined with an implant where there is inadequate
breast volume remaining.
