Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation adds volume to the breast with an implant to increase fullness and create better balance with the rest of your figure. Silicone gel and saline-filled implants are available in a variety of sizes and dimensions to achieve the appearance that each patient desires. There are three different approaches for augmentation that use a small incision placed under the breast, at the edge of the areola, or in an armpit skin fold.
There is no single best type of implant and approach for every augmentation. Breasts are extremely different and different approaches give the best results in certain breasts. During your consultation, Dr. Forley will discuss your preferences regarding breast size, incision location, and how you would like your breasts to look. After examining your breasts, he will recommend a range of options for implant type, size and incision location that will be best for your breast and will balance the rest of your figure. He will also discuss the placement of the implant behind the breast or behind the pectoralis muscle on the chest wall to achieve the most natural appearing breast possible.
Following surgery, you can expect discomfort for the first 48-72 hours which then rapidly diminishes. Pain medication is provided to make you comfortable during the initial stages of recovery. The breasts may feel tight at first from swelling but this sensation gradually resolves usually within a few days. Any bruising that develops will generally resolve within a week. You can usually return to work within a week or less and resume exercise in 2 weeks.
